Peer Educator Training

M/s. Michelin India Pvt. Ltd. Supporting to Indian Red Cross Society Tamil Nadu Branch for the implementation of “School Health and Hygiene Promotion Program” in 27 Schools including Government Primary Schools (19), Middle schools (4) and High schools (4) in and around the Michelin India Pvt.Ltd in Thiruvallur District. Peer Educators Training Program were organized in the following schools on the dates noted against them each by Indian Red Cross Society – Tamil Nadu Branch.The following Programs are:

  • To Provide Information to the School students by way of joyful learning methodology.
  • To Create Motivation to the school students.
  • To Build Self Confidence among the Students.
  • To Build Skill knowledge in various categories.
  • To Make them as a Resource Person.
  • The Project on School Health and Hygiene Promotion, involves health benefits and safety precautions on water and sanitation. School Health Education Component aimed at promoting to the School Students in personal hygiene, Safety Environmental and cleanliness. Totally 240 Students were Trained.

Mr. Rajesh G, DM Supervisor, IRCS-TNB interacted with students about the Peer Education / Role of Peer Educator Training Program and First Aid demo in the presence of Mrs. K Chitra Field Coordinator School Health and Hygiene Promotion Project.Mr. Palanivel conducted sessions on Health and Hygiene promotion, Life skill Promotion (Activities), Group Activities, Self-confidence & Leadership qualities,
The students were divided into four groups and given following four topics for Group Discussion and Presentation.
1. Environmental protection.
2. School cleaning and safety.
3. Health and hygiene.
4. Peer Educator responsibilities and activities
Mr. Lawrence Resource person conducted sessions on First Aid Training, and Disaster Management activities with Demonstration.
Outcome after Peer Educator Training

No Stage fear for the students who attended Peer Educators Training.

– Have confidence among them to share information to fellow Students/others.

– Students interested to involve First Aid and Disaster Reconstruction.

– Students work together and to check each other’s work with comments to the peer partners.

– Students have confidence in expressing their opinions, suggestions, or ideas to each other.

Peer Educator Club

Peer educator Training was conducted by Mr. K Palanivel, Mr. K Lawrence and Mr. Rajesh G, subsequently election was conducted for peer educator’s students and selected students started peer club.

Later the students organized peer club meeting in which the subject i.e. school hygiene Schools development, student discipline etc. were highlighted and also took necessary step to solve the above issue and wrote “Minutes of Peer Educator Club” Mrs. K Chitra field Coordinator has also participated in the above meetings with the Student.

Psychological Support Program
The Indian Red Cross Society-Tamil Nadu Branch Organized Psychological Support Program at 8 Middle and Higher Secondary Schools at Ellapuram and Gummidipondi Blocks in Thiruvallur District which is supported by Michelin India Pvt. Ltd.

School Psychological Study on the following topics.
Psychological development of Children, Including Physical, Mental psychological, social, moral, spiritual stages, and the characteristics of each stage, growing constraints.
– To Study behavioral attitude among students.
– To Study on controlling the emotional problems.
– To Study on tackling the academic problem.
– Assessment and monitoring Processes.
Mr. S. Arputhanesan: Interacted with students and performing balloon game and also gave orientation on the following topics.
Students Mental Psychological, Social Moral, and Spiritual Stages, The inertia of growth, Behavioral problems.
Mr. Kathiravan: Interaction session with students, about their aspirations and ambitions in their life..
The following 10 topics covered by involving students.
Empath, Problem solving, Interpersonal relationship, Creative Thinking, Critical Thinking, Management of Emotions, Management of stress, Effective Communication, Self-Awareness&Decision Making
Mr. K. Palanivel conducted sessions on Study emotional problems with children and the educational or academic problem. The students divided into four groups and given the following four topics for Group Discussion and Presentation. At the end of the session provided chocolates to all Students

  • In Psychologist point of views (Findings).
  • Exam fear, kleptomania (stealing small things), ego issues, love affairs, peer pressure in creating problems
  • Gender issues (boys – girls- egos), inter personal relationship issues, academic issues.
  • Academic fear, behavioral issues (love, respectful attitude with teachers), attention seeking behaviors, intimacy.
  • Lack of confidence.

Suggestions

  • Continuous psychological support and counseling, motivation, behavior attitude training.
  • Goal oriented motivation, behaviour attitude, counseling and follow-up.
  • Psychological counseling and support, motivational trainings.
  • Goal oriented motivation training, psychological support for academic success.Cleaning Materials DistributionThe Indian Red Cross Society-Tamil Nadu Branch has been implementing Health & Hygiene Promotion program in 27 Schools at Ellapuram and Gummidipoodi blocks. There are two high Schools, Two H. Sec. Schools, four Middle Schools 19 Elementary School involving in the above said two blocks. Totally 2677 Boys and Girls studying in the above schools.Indian Red Cross Society Tamil Nadu Branch distributed Toilet cleaning materials in the presence of Janani Arunagiriraj Michelin India Pvt Ltd and CSR Team such as hand wash, Harpic, Phenol, Toilet Bucket with Mug and Brush to all 27 Schools on 20 & 21 March 2023.

Review Meeting

The Indian Red Cross Society Tamil Nadu Branch conducted Review Meeting for 23 School Head Masters, and Teachers in respect of School Health & Hygiene promotion Program on 28.03.2023 at IRCS-TNB, Egmore.

Mr. Rajesh G, DM Supervisor given welcome address. The presidential address delivered by Mr. Shankar Naganathan Vice President IRCS-TNB,. Mr. Athmanathan, Ad – hoc Committee member IRCS-TNB and Mr. Thomas v John Ad – hoc Committee member IRCS-TNB also delivered the implementation of the Project on School Health & Hygiene Promotion Programme.  Mr. Rajesh G, DM Supervisor IRCS-TNB briefed about history of Red Cross and current status of School Health & Hygiene promotion Program. Mr. Rajesh also expressed Plan of action proposal and seeking suggestion from Head Masters and Teachers.

The following points discussed with teachers by Mr. Thomas V John Ad hoc Committee Member IRCS-TNB
Hygiene related program, Sanitary Napkin Machine, Facilities for School (Toilets renovation or upgradation), Drinking water and School Needs (Computer, Table, Chairs)
IRCS – TNB decided to provide the basic needs of the schools and necessary proposal would be sending to the Michelin India Pvt. Ltd.
On the Eve of Valedictory function Mr. Shankar Naganathan Hon.Vice-President IRCS-TNB, Mr. P Athmanathan Ad – hoc Committee Member and Mr. Thomas V John, Ad – hoc Committee Member were the chief guests. Award of Appreciation Mementos were given to the participants.

Sapling Plantation

On 30.03.2023 and 31.03.2023 the Indian Red Cross Society, Tamil Nadu Branch organized Sapling plantation Programme supported by Michelin India Pvt. Ltd, Tiruvallur District.Tree Plantation Program was implemented in 5 Schools and Provided tree guard for three Schools in Ellapuram & Gummidipoondi Blocks in Thiruvallur Districts.

  • Hr. Sec. School- A K Kandigai.
  • Panchayat Union. Middle School-G R Kandigai.
  • Panchayat Union. Middle School-Annavaram.

Based on the idea came from Peer Educator Club students pertaining to “Environment Safety” and accepted all leaders  and implemented   Sapling Plantation duly  mentioned in Minutes of Peer Educator Club.

On 30.03.2023  on the Eve of Sapling Plantation

On 31.03.2023,on the Eve of Sapling Plantation Ms.Janani CSR officer and CSR Team Michelin,  attended the Programme as the chief guest.
