What Is Youth Red Cross

The Youth Red Cross is the most important constituent of its mother organization, Indian Red Cross. It is group movement organized at the initial stages for students between 18 and 25 years of age within the colleges. A qualified lecturer is recognized as the leader and he is called as the Programme Officer.

Main Objective of Youth Red Cross:

• The main purpose of organizing the Youth Red Cross is to inculcate in the Youth of our country.
• An awareness of the care of their own health and that of others.
• The understanding and acceptance of civic responsibilities and acting accordingly with humanitarian concern, to fulfill the same.
• To enable the growth and development of a spirit of service and sense of duty with dedication and devotion in the minds of Youth.
• To foster the better friendly relationship with all without any discrimination.

Principles of Youth Red Cross: MOTTO

Youth Red Cross has the following three principles:
• Protection of Health and life – Health.
• Service to the sick and suffering – Service.
• Promotion of National and International friendship to develop the mental and moral capacities of the Youth – Friendship

YRC OFFICIALS MEETING:-

The Ad-hoc Committee convened the YRC Officials Meeting on 26.08.2023 at the conference Hall, IRCS – TNB premises towards the strengthening of YRC unit and implementing YRC activities at the College level. 34 YRC Officials (YRC Zonal Co-ordinators, Regional Co-ordinators, and District Organizers) participated.

YRC ORIENTATION PROGRAMME FOR YRC PROGRAMME OFFICERS:-

The YRC Unit of Anna University, Chennai, conducted a One-Day Orientation Training Programme for YRC Programme Officers on 23.12.2023 at MIT Campus, Anna University, Chrompet, Chengalpattu District. Prof. Dr. Thanigaiarasu, YRC Zonal Coordinator at Anna University, delivered the Welcome Address. Dr. Justice M. Jaichandren, Chairman of the Ad-hoc Committee of IRCS-TNB, inaugurated the Programme. Prof. Dr. J. Prakash, Registrar in charge of Anna University & Dean of MIT Campus, presided over the function. Thiru. Karthik Thirunarayanan, Member of the Ad-hoc Committee of IRCS-TNB, delivered the Felicitation Address.

YRC Orientation & First Aid Orientation programme sessions were conducted by Thiru. R. Mohanavenkatesan, Vice-Chairman of RICS in Chengalpattu District, and Pulavar R. Manickam, Secretary of IRCS in Chengalpattu District. Stress & Lifestyle Management sessions were conducted by Dr. S. T Venkatesan, Director in charge of ITYNMS in Chengalpattu. Prof. Dr. Pandiarajan, Dr. Gayathiri, and the YRC Volunteer Team conducted a valuable exhibition on the medicinal aspects of food. Prof. Dr. Arumugam, Vice-Chancellor of TN Dr. MGR Medical University, provided motivational insights into blood
donation. Dr. Anandkumar, YRC Programme Officer at MIT Campus, proposed the Vote of Thanks. YRC Programme Officers actively participated in this programme.
