URBAN FAMILY WELFARE CENTRE a Project of Central Health & Family Welfare, New Delhi Social Welfare Board ( through Directorate of Family Welfare ) is administered by Indian Red Cross Society, TamilNadu Branch

The Centre is functioning at Chintadripet, Chennai with a view to promote Family Planning, Nutritional Care for Mothers and Children, Immunization, Personal Hygiene and anti-natal care to the slum community exists in and around Chintadripet.

The Urban Family Welfare Centre has rendered yeomen service to the people of Chindadripet. The total population of the Urban Family Welfare Centre is given treatment to 50,306 patients and the total eligible couples 8, 186.

Other activities:

287 cases of 1,436 installments are benefited for Dr. Muthulakshmi Reddy Maternity benefit Scheme of Govt. of Tamil Nadu cases, with two sets of Maternal Nutrition kits for mothers.
6 Antenatal mothers with only two female children and no male child were motivated for sterilization operation and registered for the Govt. Benefit Scheme.16,309 packs of sanitary napkin are distributed to school-going children, Adolescent girls, and eligible mothers.

  • General health checkups were conducted for 921 children.
  • The Adolescent Girls program is conducted once every month.
  • Mobile Medical Unit medical checkup camps are conducted in slum areas.
  • A Vit-A camp is conducted once every 6 months.
  • National De-worming Day is conducted once every 6 months.
  • An intensive Mission of Indra Danush program for drop-out immunization children is conducted for one week from August to October 23.
